Vertical machining centre and horizontal machining centre what is the difference between the two?

The difference between a vertical machining centre and a horizontal machining centre, many friends who are new to machining centres are confused about what the difference is between a vertical machining centre and a horizontal machining centre? There are many kinds of machining centres, including gantry machining centres, vertical machining centres and horizontal machining centres. The common one is our vertical machining centre, which should be well known to everyone. Let’s discuss the difference between a vertical machining centre and a horizontal machining centre. Vertical machining centre refers to the spindle of the vertical machining centre, its structural form is mostly fixed column, the table is rectangular, no indexing rotation function, suitable for processing disc, set, plate parts, generally have three linear motion coordinate axis, can be installed on the table along the horizontal axis rotation, processing spiral parts.

The vertical machining centre is easy to install, easy to operate, easy to observe the machining situation, easy to debug the program and widely used. However, due to the limitations of the column height and the tool changer, parts that are too high cannot be machined. When machining cavities or concave surfaces, chips are not easily discharged and can seriously damage the tool and damage the machined surface, affecting the smoothness of machining.
Horizontal machining centre refers to the spindle of horizontal machining centre, usually with automatic indexing rotary table, generally has 3~5 motion coordinates, commonly three linear motion coordinates plus rotary motion coordinates, after the workpiece card, complete the machining of the other four surfaces except for the mounting surface and top surface, suitable for adding box parts. Compared with vertical machining centres, horizontal machining centres are easy to discharge and conducive to machining, but the structure is complex. The price is higher.
A, vertical machining centre and horizontal machining centre is different in structure
The main difference between the vertical machining centre and the horizontal machining centre is the difference in the structure of the Z-axis. Vertical machining centre Z-axis vertical downward movement, horizontal machining centre Z-axis horizontal downward movement, is the main difference between vertical machining centre and horizontal machining centre.
Second, the difference between vertical machining centres and horizontal machining centres is the difference in table
Vertical machining centre table is usually cross slide structure of the T-slot table, there are two sets of motion mechanism is responsible for vertical movement, X to feed the table cover is responsible for Y to feed the guide, while the horizontal machining centre table is only designed to X or XY to movement, the form of the table is generally dotted screw hole table rotary table, relatively easy to choose the exchange type double table.
